Provision of one-time lump sum financial assistance in the form of grant for purchase of land for semi-confined, captive sheep rearing for landless shepherd families under the state level scheme for the beneficiaries of Dhangar and similar communities.

Objectives of the scheme: -

  • To provide a sustainable source of income to the pastoralists of Dhangar and similar communities from sheep or goat rearing and thereby help in raising their social and economic status.

  • To overcome the difficulties / problems faced by the shepherd family during the period of June to September.

  • To prevent the steady decline in the number of sheep in the state or to provide self-employment opportunities by increasing it.

  • To generate rural employment by promoting sheep / goat rearing business in the state.

Terms of the scheme: -

  • The beneficiary of the scheme should be a resident of the state of Maharashtra
  • Nomadic Tribes - Category C beneficiaries should not own land.

Nature of Benefit: -

75 per cent of the land value for purchase of at least 1 goontha of land for a semi-confined, herded family of landless shepherd families or 75 per cent of the rental lease for a lease of land for at least 30 years.
