Subsidy Scheme for NGOs to run Vidyaniketan.

Nature of Scheme:

The Ashram School Scheme has been implemented in Maharashtra since 1953 with the objective of providing residential education to the students of VJNT category  for their educational, social and economic upliftment.  However, in the year 1996, an independent Vidyaniketan Scheme was sanctioned for Vimukta Jati Seva Samiti, Vasant Nagar, Kotgyal, Tal. Mukhed, Dist. Nanded to start Vidyaniketan.  At present, Vidyaniketan has classes from 6th to 12th standard with 640 students’ intake capacity. Rs.1500/- per student per month for student meals,  Rs.1450 /- for text books, uniforms, stationery, etc per student and Rs.1000 /- per student for bedding and cots for students, daily cleaning and repair expense and building rent is provided to institution by Government as non salary grant along with salary grant for salary of teachers and other employees.  The organization has to bear 10% of the annual cost incurred for this.

Conditions of Scheme :

1) Beneficiary student should be a resident of Maharashtra.

2) Beneficiary student should be of VJNT category.

3) The annual income of the parents should not exceed Rs.24000.

4) Students gets admission as per merit of a competitive examination.

5) Students studying in 5th standard in a granted ashram school are admitted as per merit of a competitive examination.

This scheme is useful for quality education and to motivate students for higher education.
